It is with great sadness that I offer my condolences to yourself , the people of Russia, and the families and friends of those who have perished in this tragedy . It was Toscanini that stated “music is the fabric that hold the tapestry of humanity together ” The very fabric of music has been torn and the world has lost one of its finest musical and theatrical jewels . the valiant voice of the ensemble as been silenced and the entire world mourns this great loss. to listen to your voice in song is to listen to the heart of the people of Russia and so it was for the rest of the ensemble and my hearts and prayers are with all those who have suffered
This great loss for humanity

I’m a 17 year old student from Portugal, and I have to say that I absolutely adore your performance of “The Cliff”.
I have listened to the voices of many other great opera men, but yours is something else, for me. Such power, on your voice, such patriotism in your body language. Truly, a perfect performance. Brezhnev was not the only one to weap!
Over the years, I have grown more and more interested in Soviet/Russian culture and history, and I have learned how important music was for the Soviet Union and is for the Russian Federation.
Your outsanding performances contribute to my interest, Mr Kharitonov. Thank you very much.

i agree 100%. a magnificent voice and a very moving performance. i come back to his music often, and in his performances his humour and kindness always shines through
Mr Kharitonov’s voice and music has the power to speak to people’s souls. Whenever I feel dejected or depressed with the state of the world I find listening to his 1965 recording of the Volga Boatmen’s Song gives me fresh confidence in the endurance of the human race and its ability to overcome adversity. Mr Kharitonov’s voice tells me the sun will rise tomorrow for all of us.

during that swim the song of the volgaboatsman came into my mind.

I am a major fan of many different genres of music -- including the music of Imperial Russia and the Soviet Union. Your rendition of the “Song of the Volga Boatmen” and “Dark-Eyed Cossack Girl” are two of my favorite Soviet-era Russian pieces of music. You have an amazing voice.

Has Leonid ever provided the voice over in any films? I am thinking of the 2010 Russian movie “The Fortress of War” about the battle at the Fortress of Brest at the beginning of WWII.
No, Leonid has never done it.

As I type this note, I am listening to the 1965 film of Leonid Kharitonov and the Red Army Chorus. It is fantastic and I have watched it over 50 times! A whole new world of music was opened up to me. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
